Learn To Ride Volunteer


A volunteer for the Learn to Ride Bike Program is chosen by the President of TransOptions, Bike Specialist and/or the Volunteer Coordinator based upon the volunteer’s willingness to support the event.

I. Volunteer responsibilities include:

  • Basic understanding of the event and day’s procedure
  • Assist instructors with bicycle preparation
    • Removing bike pedals
    • Lowering seats
    • Bike sizing
    • Tire inflation
    • Brake check
  • Provide assistance guiding children through the course
  • Attend a short volunteer meeting the week prior to the event.
  • Ability to stand in the sun for 1-3 hours
  • Ability to bend
  • Ability to jog behind the children’s bikes if necessary

II. Timeline

  • Multiple classes are provided throughout the year, indoor and outdoor
  • Weekdays and weekends
  • Primarily in Spring, Summer and Fall
  • 1-3 hours per class
  • Volunteers will be recognized at TransOptions’ Recognition Breakfast in July

III. Age

  • 14+ years old
