Anyone traveling New Jersey's roads will tell you that they are some of the most congested in the country. Traffic jams are an unavoidable reality that adds stress and misery to our lives. Residents spend more time commuting to and from work than in any other state in the country.
Congested roads are a constant reminder of the negative effects of our societies dependence on cars. The environmental consequences associated with cars, while not as frustrating on a day-to-day basis as snarled traffic, lead to a profound reduction in our quality of life.
