Green Adds Up is the TransOptions initiative for increasing awareness of alternative transportation options and providing suggestions for helping the environment.

 

TransOptions believes that all "green" actions, even small or occasional ones, are positive habits that together "add up" to make a difference.  We recognize that people need to make environmental choices at their own pace by finding their own "green comfort zone".  By delivering environmental information, we provide resources to help you decide then and how "green" choices are incorporated into your lifestyle.

 

According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, cars, trucks and buses account for 20% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions.  As NJ residents, we spend more time in our cars than residents of any other state.  By becoming aware of ways that we can utilize alternative transportation, we can reduce emissions and improve air quality.  Each "green" action adds up, helping the environment.

 

For twenty-two years, TransOptions has actively been "green".  As a non-profit organization we deliver programs for carpooling, vanpooling and biking-to-work focused to help the environment by reducing carbon emissions generated by solo drivers.

 

We hold on-site corporate events delivering alternative transportation information directly to commuters at their worksites.  Our popular Traf-Alerts and Ozone Action notices provide commuters with traffic advisories, helping them make route choices and idle less during their travels.

 

We've proudly sponsored the Junior Solar Sprints for middle school students and the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Model Car Challenge for high school students.  Both programs expand first-hand awareness of alternative fuel sources to hundreds of future drivers, their parents, friends and teachers.
